Prepare the ingredients: Cut the beef and potatoes, dice the onion, and mince the garlic.
In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth together until smooth.
Place the beef cubes at the bottom of the slow cooker and season with salt and pepper.
Add the diced onions, garlic, and potatoes on top of the beef.
Pour the mixed soup and broth over the entire contents of the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
About 30 minutes before serving, add the shredded cheddar cheese on top, and cover until melted.
Once the cooking time is complete, stir everything together and taste for seasoning.
