Delicious Christmas Sausage Rolls for Celebrations

Christmas Sausage Rolls made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g pork sausage meat
  • 200 g puff pastry
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
  3. In a bowl, combine the pre-cooked onion and garlic with sausage meat, thyme, pepper, and salt.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  5. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture onto one side of each rectangle.
  6. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges with a fork or by pinching.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
