Delicious Christmas Sausage Rolls for the Festive Table

Christmas Sausage Rolls made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g sausage meat
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp sage dried or fresh
  • 1 tsp thyme dried or fresh
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 500 g puff pastry
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the sausage meat, sautéed onion and garlic, breadcrumbs, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
  5. Cut the pastry into rectangles and place a line of filling along one edge.
  6. Roll the pastry over the filling to enclose it and seal the edges.
  7. Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
