Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups cubed stale bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For Vanilla Sauce: 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a baking dish by greasing it with butter or a non-stick spray.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cubed stale bread, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the custard mixture over the bread mixture and gently fold to combine.
  6. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquids.
  7. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  8. While the pudding is baking, prepare the vanilla sauce.
  9. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until warmed.
  10. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the warm cream and whisk until smooth.
  11. Once the bread pudding is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
