Deliciously Rich Mississippi Mud Potatoes

Mississippi Mud Potatoes made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup green onions sliced (for garnish)

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into chunks.
  3. Boil the potatoes in salted water for about 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
  4. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash until smooth.
  5. Mix in sour cream, cream, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Fold in half of the cheddar cheese and all of the bacon pieces.
  7. Spread the potato mixture into a greased baking dish.
  8. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
