Method
- Prepare the apples by washing and drying them thoroughly.
- Insert wooden skewers into the apples.
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Cook the mixture until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove the candy from heat and stir in food coloring and vanilla extract, if using.
- Dip each apple into the candy coating, letting excess drip off.
- Place dipped apples onto parchment paper to cool.
