Ingredients
  

  • 6 medium apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 wooden skewers or popsicle sticks

Method
 

  1. Prepare the apples by washing and drying them thoroughly.
  2. Insert wooden skewers into the apples.
  3. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  4. Cook the mixture until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  5. Remove the candy from heat and stir in food coloring and vanilla extract, if using.
  6. Dip each apple into the candy coating, letting excess drip off.
  7. Place dipped apples onto parchment paper to cool.
