Delightful Reindeer Cookies for Festive Baking

Reindeer Cookies made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Candy eyes red candy (for nose), and pretzels (for antlers)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, decorate the cookies with pretzels for antlers, candy eyes, and red candy for noses.
