Lemon Tiramisu: A Citrus Twist on a Classic Dessert

Ingredients
  

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 12-14 ladyfingers
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Separate the eggs and whip the egg whites.
  2. Beat the egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
  3. Incorporate mascarpone cheese and lemon zest into the yolk mixture.
  4. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Combine whipped cream with the egg mixture.
  6. Dip ladyfingers in lemon juice and layer in a dish.
  7. Layer the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Repeat layering until the dish is full.
  9. Chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
