Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
In a bowl, combine cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional cheddar cheese until well mixed.
Roll out the crescent dough on a flat surface and separate it into triangles.
Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture at the wider end of each triangle and roll toward the point.
Place rolled crescents on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving hot.
